Safeguarding has the highest priority in our academies and Trust as a whole.
Everyone who comes into contact with children and families has a role to play in safeguarding. (Working together to Safeguard Children 2015 and Keeping Children Safe in Education 2015 – updated September 2016)).
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is defined as:
- protecting children from maltreatment;
- preventing impairment of children’s health or development;
- ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care; and
- taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes.
If you have concerns about a child’s safety at any time, please speak to the Academy’s Designated Safeguarding Lead. This may be the Principal, Headteacher or another senior member of staff. They will do their very best to help.
Should you need to make contact with us at Trust level, our Designated Safeguarding Lead is Karen Burns, Chief Executive Officer. Karen Burns can be contacted via the email@example.com e-mail address or via 0161 339 7822. Please inform the person answering the telephone that you are calling with regard to a safeguarding matter.
In an emergency situation, or where the school is not in session, you may need to contact the local authority contact at Tameside or the police.
We will include our safeguarding policies here but if you have any queries in the meantime please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
